Children’s Sacramental Preparation
This program prepares children in grades 2-5 for receiving their First Reconciliation (Confession) and their First Holy Communion (Eucharist). Children who qualify for Sacramental Prep classes attend one of our elementary education Faith Formation classes as well as two Sacramental Prep Retreats. In addition, parents must attend specific nights at Our Catholic Journey in order to help build and facilitate a strong knowledge base about the Catholic Faith.
Requirements
- Children are in grades 2-5
- Children are baptized (letter or certificate required)
- Children must complete at least one full year of Faith Formation in a parish program or a parochial school
- Children are currently enrolled in a Faith Formation class
- Families are registered members of IHM
- Parents and children attend both Sacramental Prep retreats
- Parents must attend and sign in at eight Our Catholic Journeys on Wednesday evenings.

Once children have complete their requirements, services for their Sacraments will be held on the following dates:

Steps
To get your children enrolled for receiving their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, please do the following:

Fill out a Faith Formation form. You can find them at the information desk, or you can download and email them from the information bar on the right.

On the back of the Faith Formation form, fill out the portion that says “Sacramental Prep.”

Choose which day and class you would like your children to attend.

Bring your child to their first day of class, September 13-14, 2011.

Attend the first required Our Catholic Journey, September 7, 2011. Be sure to sign in so that we know that you have attended.

Make sure we receive a proof of Baptism by the date of the first retreat

Attend the First Reconciliation Retreat with your children

Attend the First Reconciliation Service

Continue to have children attend class and attend Our Catholic Journey.

Attend First Holy Communion Retreat
