Project Rachel
What is post-abortion?
Many people, women and men alike, suffer trauma following involvement in an abortion. It can manifest itself in many ways, including guilt, anxiety, depression, anniversary reactions and broken relationships.
What is Project Rachel?
Project Rachel, which began in 1991, is a confidential archdiocesan post-abortion program. Since that time, hundreds of men and women have sought healing and reconciliation with God, the Church, themselves and their child. The Archdiocese of Denver reaches out in this ministry on the premise that post-abortive parents have a right to grieve the loss of their child and work through their feelings of regret and guilt. Project Rachel reinforces the Catholic Church’s teachings on forgiveness and helps post-abortive parents return to full communion with Christ and His Church.
Project Rachel activities
Project Rachel provides individual counseling, either in person or by phone, and also coordinates a post-abortion support group, various healing Masses and retreats throughout the year. In addition, Project Rachel compassionately encourages participates to return to the sacraments, particularly reconciliation and the Eucharist.
