The Mass: History, Mystery and Sacrifice
Our Catholic Journey is Immaculate Heart of Mary’s Adult Faith Formation Program. Each Wednesday evening all are invited to share with us the teachings of the Catholic Church. Many different people come to Our Catholic Journey: those enrolled in our RCIA program, those exploring initiation into the Catholic Church, our teen Confermandi who are preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation, parents if children in our Sacramental Prep classes, and many of our parishioners who are looking for a refresher course in their Catholic Faith. The evenings are hosted and taught by Father Greg Ames, pastor of IHM, and David Pipp, the Director of Evangelization.
Our Catholic Journey
Wednesday
6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Our Catholic Journey returns this year with a theme that will capture your attention no matter where you may be on your journey. If you have been coming to weekly Mass (maybe even daily Mass!) and have also been attending Our Catholic Journey for years, you might be getting a bit bored with the whole Wednesday evening teachings, hearing the same things over and over again. If you are a parent of a child going through Sacramental Prep. you might be thinking you’ve heard all of this before and are not looking forward to hearing it again this year. If you are returning to the Church, or joining the Church this year through the RCIA program and you need to hear what the Catholic Church teaches, our previous Catholic Journey nights were perfect for you. But what about this year?
This year, Our Catholic Journey will be able to serve all of our different parishioners, regardless of where they may be on the journey. By walking through the book Rediscovering Catholicism by Matthew Kelly, we will study, chapter by chapter, the ways that we all can fully, consciously, and actively participate within the life of the Church. Although the phrase, “To whom much is given, much will be expected,” isn’t actually is the Bible, the idea is (“Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.” Luke 12:-48). This command from Christ is essential to our life as Catholic Christian people. We have been given much – much is required of us. That is why we have an open invitation to all parishioners to make time to join us this year for Our Catholic Journey. Make the time to come and rediscover your Catholicism. The classes offer the teachings of the Church, but in a way that will help you to grow in your relationship with Christ and His Bride, the Church.
See you on the Journey!
